Employee of the Year - 2024
Travis Murin
ADA, Okla. – Travis Murin, a Direct Care Professional at McCall’s Chapel School, has been named the organization’s Employee of the Year for 2024. The announcement came during a year-end staff meeting with over 200 staff and residents of McCall’s in attendance.
Murin started at McCall’s in 2023, inspired by his seven-year-old son, Silas.
“Silas receives disability services at his school,” Murin explained. “I wanted a position where I could be better equipped to care for him as he gets older.”
McCall’s Chapel selects the Employee of the Year from the pool of staff honored as Employee of the Month during the year. Murin was recognized as Employee of the Month in January of 2024. As the year progressed, his performance continued to lauded by those around him.
“Unsolicited, last month I had a family member of one of our residents come up to me at a restaurant. She wanted to brag on Travis,” said McCall’s CEO John Long. “She talked about the interaction he had with the residents and how he truly cared about the wellness and happiness of those he served, including her family member.”
“Travis is an inspiring role model for all of us at McCall’s and very deserving of Employee of the Year,” said McCall’s Chief Operating Officer Cyndy Stone. “He is compassionate and the epitome of a servant leader.”
McCall’s Chapel School is home to 130 individuals with intellectual disabilities. In addition, McCall’s Community Homes serves over 200 individuals in the Ada and Oklahoma City areas.
“It is a challenge every year to look at the Employees of the Month and pick one to be Employee of the Year,” Long said. “I would say Travis made it a little easier this year – earning Employee of the Month in January and then getting even better as the year progressed. Now he represents all of our incredible home staff – who have simultaneously the most challenging and most rewarding roles in our organization.”
